| Fishguard Folk Festival 28-31 May 2010 The 11th annual celebration of folk music, song and dance will take place over the late Spring Bank Holiday weekend from Friday 28th to Monday 31st May 2010 in the historic seaport town of Fishguard. With concerts, dance displays, `meet the artist` events, busking, informal music and song sessions and a real ale bar.
Over the past ten years the seaport town of Fishguard has been host to this friendly small traditional music festival. Also featuring is the ever-popular guided `Pirate and Smugglers` walk. The festival is mainly free, and embraces the talents of old and young alike and actively encourages visitors to join in the sessions with the `stars` of the show.
The first acts for 2010 have been announced as Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies, Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll, Lucy Farrell and Jonny Kearney and Mike Chant. There are many more acts still to be announced. Contact details www.pembrokeshire-folk-music.co.uk/Festival.htm |

Snowdon Fiddle Festival June 2010 The festival started as an offshoot of the local fiddle club Clwb Ffidil yr Wyddfa, with the aim of raising the profile of traditional fiddle playing in the area, giving Welsh fiddle music some well deserved exposure and providing a chance to hear and learn from the foremost exponents of fiddle playing from further afield.
Set in the tiny picturesque village of Nant Peris, at the foot of Snowdon, the festival has become known for its warm and friendly atmosphere. Festivities start on the Friday night with an open session in the cosy back room of the Vaynol Arms. During the day on Saturday there are workshops for fiddle and other instruments including a chance to try out the crwth (a medieval bowed lyre), clog dancing sessions and events for children including storytelling, climbing and puppet shows. Following the fun we had last year, there will be an open-mike concert in the pub at lunchtime, followed by an all-afternoon session to which all are welcome. The evening concert takes place in Rehoboth chapel, conveniently situated nearly opposite the pub for the session afterwards
Artists who have played here include Roots`n`Galoots, Stephen Rees, John Dipper, Maria Jonsson and Ian Carr, KilBride, Siân Phillips, Christine and Jo Cooper, SILD and the New Rope String Band, as well as numerous local fiddlers. Contact details info@gwylffidil.info

07990 992196 Rumney Folk Festival, Cardiff September 2010 Now in its 2nd year, the festival is situated in a small village suburb of Cardiff, which plays host to a special lil` folk club in St. Augustine`s church hall every month.
Rumney Folk Club produces a candle lit atmosphere, a diverse range of musicians and a relaxed crowd, with varying tastes and appreciations regardless of the performers skill or age (a few people have made their first public performances here).
Rumney Folk Festival 08 was a triumph for the club; a well supported event (despite the weather) raising a lot of money for its chosen charity, the St. Augustine`s Parish Church Restoration Fund.
For 2009, the festival is set to be quite a hit, with the inclusion of a farmers market outside the hall and instrument workshops inside St Augustine`s Church; an 11th century building with some amazing acoustics.
Admission to the festival is a mere £5, including a full days entertainment, a licensed bar, bbq, demonstrations/displays, a raffle, merch. stall, church & bell tower open day, the farmers market and workshops. It`s a perfect way to end the summer in Rumney....heck, in Cardiff!
We`ll see you there! Saturday 5th September, doors 11:30AM. Contact details www.rumneyfolkclub.co.uk
